and wife. Corporal Erlandson had just returned from the Gulf to see
his baby daughter for the first time.

Mothers and children placed flowers in a patriotic basket to
symbolize those lost in each of the wars in which American soldiers
have given their lives to keep our country free.

Children who were the future Americans fought to uphold were an
important part of the Memorial Day service.

Carroll County War Hero Vernon Bobo (in blue) alongside another
important veteran were among those in attendance.

Retired District Attorney John L. Williams (center) who served in
the U.S. Army as a medical corpsman during the post-World War II
occupation of Japan, sits among fellow veterans at the service.

Former servicemen and patriotic citizens mingled in somber gratitude
of the sacrifice and accomplishment of lost servicemen represented
on Memorial Day.

The First Annual Memorial Day Service in Huntingdon was a great
success.
